The Universal Favour Bank
The Universal Favour Bank, where favour deposits are made to the favour bank without expectation of
repayment. The Universe (God, the Source, the Divine, the One, the Spirit, the Creator, the Supreme Being, All-That-Is) will repay the

Recycling Favours by Shirl T.
I am a widow with time on her hands. My children are grow with homes
of their own. I'm not into shopping except for things that I need, not
thing that I want. As you grow older, you learn the difference.
As an avid reader, I am always looking for places to buy books, the
cheaper the better. A book can withstand being read by many people
without wearing out.
On my book quest I was pointed in the direction of a place called
Wastewise
a non profit business in Georgetown, Ontario, Canada,
that recycles nearly everything. All materials are donated by the
public. They find buyers for newspaper, metal, glass, aluminum foil
containers, clothing, furniture, old computers, CDs, DVDs and toys,
you name it, they recycle it. They have a small store that sells
"better" donations, and a clothing shop that has good clothing for
the entire family. All clothes that are not sold are donated to the
Canadian Diabetes Society.
After a few visits to Wastewise, I was hooked. I could see that what
they were doing was keeping lots and lots of stuff out of the landfill
sites. We are over run with things that we no longer use or need, so
what do we do with it, throw it in the garbage.
My week now revolves around working as a volunteer at Wastewise. I
work about 16 hours a week along with a great crew of volunteers and a
few paid employees. It feeds my soul, my love of my country, the love
of this beautiful planet that we all live on.
I am so grateful that I can do my part to make it a little better
in my own small way.
Favours returned
Sometimes the favours that I receive back are what
you might call, left hand favours, my grand kids asking if I could
get some needed "thing" from my place of work that they need for a
school play, clothing for costumes, props and such. They now know
that instead of going to a store and purchasing things that will only
be used once then discarded, just isn't right.
There are the friendships with people that I would never have had
the opportunity to meet otherwise.
There are things that I learn each day that I go to work, people come
in looking for old books, so now I have gained the knowledge of
others wisdom. People who are art experts, come in to check out the
artwork of all descriptions, they themselves don't necessarily buy
for themselves but let us know if there are any valuable art in our hodge podge collection.
We sell these valuable at a silent auction.
There are people who come in who need a friendly face to help brighten
their days, I have learned that it is better to give than receive.
